It has been awhile since I last posted anything. Unfortunately, it has been rather quiet on the writing front. My other venture, which is in teaching Malay, got a little busier as I took on more students in December. Lesson preparation has kept me rather busy.

The other thing that has kept me busy was dealing with potential job offers. It is indeed a happy problem, and I count myself fortunate that there are employers out there who see value in at least exploring the value I could bring to the table. I will write more on this another time, particularly on the topic of how my interviewing experience has changed significantly this year as compared to 2019, when I was trying quite hard to find a new job.

Having said that, I am not pessimistic about the short to medium term horizon for my writing. There is still much I can accomplish before the year is up. Right now, I am considering releasing the first half of the novel as a shorter book. It might be a good exercise to clear up the story now before I move on into the final bits of it. It might also be a good way to test water.

Finally, I have noticed an uptick in the number of times the site has gone down in the last two weeks or so. i am rather concerned but so far it seems that there have been no security breaches of any kind. I hope these issues resolve themselves eventually. I am also going to take it as a reminder to be more diligent in working on this site.

The end of the calendar year is typically a time to gather with family and celebrate the year past. Though it seems hard to find anything worth celebrating in a year ravaged by a pandemic that continues to rage on, I hope that you do have a little corner of joy worth taking joy in.
